Detailed Introduction

Mid-County Endodontic Group, P.A. is a prominent dental practice specializing in endodontics, a branch of dentistry focused on the dental pulp and tissues surrounding the roots of a tooth. With a strong presence in Bergen County, New Jersey, the practice operates two convenient locations in Ridgewood and Westwood. The clinic's mission is to deliver extraordinary endodontic care, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for every patient. The team consists of highly trained endodontists who have completed advanced education beyond dental school, making them specialists in diagnosing and treating complex endodontic issues. The practice is well-regarded for its compassionate approach and use of contemporary technology, including advanced digital radiography, which significantly reduces radiation exposure. They offer a full spectrum of endodontic services, with a primary focus on saving natural teeth. Key procedures include root canal treatment, a common procedure performed to remove damaged or infected pulp, clean and seal the tooth, and prevent the need for tooth extraction. They also provide endodontic retreatment for root canals that have failed, and treat cracked teeth and traumatic dental injuries. The clinic is equipped to handle both routine and complex cases, and they offer emergency services. Patient testimonials often highlight the staff's professionalism, the doctors' gentle and caring demeanor, and the overall painless experience.

Two words in the English language are synonymous with dread and pain - root canal. It is the galactic sentence of doom. If you seek a galactic force to overcome this scourge, remember these two words - Jin Hahn. Dr. Hahn operated on a molar that my own excellent dentist could not even touch, it was so sensitive. She completed my procedure in an hour this morning, and did so without pain or residual discomfort.

Dr. Hahn is a credit to the prestigious institutions from which she graduated ( Penn, Columbia, and NYU). She is patient, warm, and impeccably competent. She is among the most talented and devoted caregivers I have met. I give her and her staff my highest recommendation for caregiving and professionalism. Greg Dube

If I could recommend this office and Dr Chen a thousand times, I would. The entire staff was patient, kind and wonderful. Dr Chen explained everything thoroughly and was super gentle. I used to dread root canals, (I’ve had a few), but now I fear not!!!

If you don't want to read my entire review, I can sum up our experience with Dr. Rachel Chun in one word—outstanding. If you need an endodontist, don't hesitate to book your appointment now! My mother is 89 and has a host of health issues that could complicate her care. Dr. Rachel and her entire team were so helpful, kind, and understanding. My mother needed a root canal to save her tooth, but her dentist wasn't sure that would be possible. It was very complicated, as my mother had an infection and other issues related to her teeth. Dr.

Rachel considered all of the options and decided we could try to save the tooth. Dr. Rachel was incredibly attentive to my mother's concerns about the root canal. She took the time to explain the procedure in detail, answering all of our questions. My mother's words best capture her experience, saying she felt truly cared for, from the numbing cream applied before the novocaine shot to the extra pillows to support her head during the procedure to the thoughtful question about using the bathroom before continuing. Dr. Rachel's personalized care and attention made my mother feel valued and important, creating a calm atmosphere for the procedure. That night, I received a text from Dr.

Rachel. I thought it was autogenerated, but when I texted back, I immediately received a text back! It was so wonderful to know that it was possible for me to reach out should we have a complication. It is just another example of exemplary care and kindness. Before closing, I would be remiss if I didn't also thank the entire staff, who are lovely! Dr. Rachel Chun epitomizes everything you want in a doctor. At a time when care can too often feel rushed and impersonal, Dr. Rachel stands out as someone who is at the top of her game in every way possible! Thank you, Dr. Rachel!

I very much debated whether to write this review or not, but feel it’s important to share my experience for the benefit of others. I was referred to Mid County endodontics in February 2024 b/c of pain I was having in one specific tooth. I saw Dr. Hahn for a consultative appointment where x-rays did not show anything “wrong” with the tooth. She noticed that I had leaky fillings on the outside of the tooth and two neighboring teeth, and suggested that we start by replacing the fillings to see if it would address the discomfort I had. I made another appointment and moved forward with the new fillings… It was very clear shortly after that appointment that the problem was not resolved. I returned to the office a few days later with the same complaint of pain in the initial tooth. Dr. Hahn performed a number of tests to determine what was causing the tooth’s sensitivity (ex: chewing, cold temps, etc…) and told me that the tooth I was expressing the most reaction to was a neighboring tooth - not the one I initially came in for. I asked her to repeat the tests a few times and she was still adamant that a different tooth was the issue and needed a root canal.

She performed the root canal, gave me no directions for what to expect after the procedure, and sent me on my way after paying $2000+ for treatment. Once the root canal healed, I still experienced pain in the initial tooth and returned to the office at least 3 times over several weeks to ask for a root canal in the correct tooth. I was denied treatment for the tooth in need. During one appointment, I saw Dr. Rachel who attempted to “file” the tooth to see if my bite was causing some of the discomfort. While “filing” the tooth, she struck something that was so painful I almost went through the roof. Even after that incident, she still refused to give me a root canal. I could not believe that I had to return to their office so many times, begging for a root canal, to be told to “give it time”. After speaking with my regular dentist, I was referred to a different endodontist who performed the root canal I needed, and did so for less than half of what Mid County charged me for the wrong tooth that they performed a root canal on. After healing from the correct procedure and receiving a crown to protect the tooth, my problem has been resolved… six months later.

Additionally, in the midst of all of this, a couple of leaky fillings on the opposite side of my mouth were chipped and needed to be replaced. Dr. Hahn replaced the fillings, but charged me significantly more for them versus the fillings she had replaced previously. I was told that the “surface area” of the teeth made a difference in the pricing, but these were teeth directly opposite of the first set of leaky fillings - the teeth were the same size given that they were all molars. It definitely felt like I was being price gouged. My experience at Mid County Endo was truly upsetting… From beginning to end, I spent 6 months trying to resolve a simple dental issue and experienced so much pain and discomfort in the process, not to mention paying them about $4k for treatment. If they had given me the root canal in the tooth I had been referred to them for (with a referral card specifying which tooth was the concern!), I would have been spared so much discomfort and frustration, not to mention all of the time I had to take off from work for dental appointments. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this practice to anyone I care about.
