The North Central
Dental Society (NCDS) is a long-standing professional organization dedicated to the dental profession and public
Oral Health. Founded in 1915, its primary mission is twofold: to promote optimal oral and general health within its communities and to advance the art and science of dentistry while upholding the highest standards of ethical practice among its members.
As a local component society of both the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Indiana Dental Association (IDA), NCDS serves dentists across several counties in North Central Indiana, including Wabash, Grant, Howard, Miami, Cass, eastern Pulaski, Elkhart, Kosciusko, St. Joseph, Marshall, Fulton, Starke, and the city of Ligonier in Noble County.
The NCDS provides significant support to its member dentists through various services. These include offering a peer review process, providing no-fee referrals for consultations and treatment, and hosting multiple
Continuing Education programs. These programs are designed to help members expand their expertise and stay current with advancements in the field. Furthermore, NCDS acts as a vital voice for its members in governmental affairs, advocating on behalf of the dental profession through its affiliations with the IDA and ADA.
Beyond its direct support to dentists, the North Central Dental Society also actively serves the broader community. This includes facilitating dental referrals at no cost, ensuring that its members' participation in continuing education translates into high-quality patient care, and funding dental exhibits and events to promote good oral health for the public. The organization is governed by an executive board, which includes a president, president-elect, vice president, past president, at-large board members, trustee, and treasurer. They have a history of dedicated leadership at local, state, and national levels.
