A business rooted in a community should be there for that community. I live on the 7th floor of an apartment building, and right downstairs is a dental office. Back in December, I walked into their office and asked them when the soonest available appointment was—they told me it would be almost three months. That was disappointing, but I let it go. Later, my boyfriend told me he once walked in with a toothache, and they helped him, no appointment needed. That stuck with me. I figured if an emergency ever came up, they’d do the same for me. Well, that day came. Today, I woke up in pain—sharp, relentless tooth pain that had been building for days. Remembering what my boyfriend said and knowing this was a neighborhood office, I went down early, hoping they'd understand. I sat down inside and waited my turn, I was the 3rd patient in line. The man behind the counter, an older gentleman, stood up and pointed at me.
Him: "Excuse me, do you have an appointment?" He didn’t even wait for a full answer before cutting me off. Me: "No, I don’t. " Him: "You need an appointment. We don’t do walk-ins. " Me: "Not even if I’ve been in pain for days?" Him: "No. We don’t do walk-ins. " When he said no, I wanted to start crying right there and then. Me: "So when is your next available appointment?" Him: "Ahhh, I gotta check. Give me a minute. Let me finish with him first. " The entire exchange happened loudly, across the room—public, dismissive, and humiliating. There I was, nearly in tears, with my tooth pounding like a drum in my head.
I felt helpless—like a child being denied something essential just to keep functioning. The only kindness I received was from an elderly man in the waiting room who smiled at me. That smile meant more than anything that the staff member offered. (Im told the man behind the counter is the doctors husband) The whole experience felt cold, unprofessional, andhonesty, and heartless. Dentists know how excruciating tooth pain can be. It’s not a small discomfort—it affects your whole body, your mood, your ability to eat, sleep, and function. To be turned away so bluntly, without compassion, made me question why they even chose this profession. Was it really out of a desire to help people—or is it just about the money? I won’t be going back. Yes, I understand that businesses have policies. But when someone is clearly in pain and asking for help, maybe… just maybe, some empathy should come before policy.

I had a very pleasant experience at the NY Dental Implant Center. Everyone at the front desk was very pleasant. The dentist and her assistant were very gentle. They let me know everything that needed to be done that day. My teeth were cleaned and checked, and I’m waiting for my insurance company to approve the work that needs to be done? I feel very at ease at this Dental Center.

Was running late, was very understandable and accommodating about that. The receptionist guy is amazing. My weight was not long. The nurses are amazing. They make sure they let you know what They’re doing as before they do it. The Dentist is excellent. She let you know what she’s gonna be doing what she recommend is safer she give options. I like that
