Detailed Introduction

Park Slope kids dental care is a state-of-the-art pediatric dental clinic located at 150 4th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217, led by Dr. Tanesha Francis. The clinic's primary mission is to provide a positive and fun dental experience for children, understanding that dental phobias often start in childhood. To achieve this, the office is decorated and geared specifically towards children, featuring a "fun-loving staff," soft music, television for entertainment during treatments, and a reward system for a job well done. They use child-friendly vocabulary, such as "sugar bugs" for cavities and "sleepy juice" for injections, to help alleviate fear and anxiety. The clinic specializes in Pediatric dentistry, providing comprehensive dental care for infants, toddlers, school-age children, and adolescents. Their services are designed to meet the unique needs of a child's developing teeth, from the first tooth to permanent teeth. Key services include preventative care like fluoride treatments and sealants, as well as restorative treatments such as fillings and pulp therapy. They also offer early orthodontic evaluations, space maintainers, and sedation dentistry options like nitrous oxide (laughing gas) for anxious patients. Emergency dental visits are also handled with care and compassion. Dr. Francis and her staff are highly trained in pediatric dentistry and are dedicated to educating both children and parents on the importance of oral health. They provide guidance on topics like home care, diet, and thumb-sucking cessation. The clinic accepts various insurance plans and offers financial options like CareCredit to make dental care accessible. With a focus on creating a warm, caring, and professional environment, Park Slope Kids Dental Care strives to set children on a path to a lifetime of healthy smiles.

Arrived to an appointment 8 minutes late today struggling with 2 children. No empathy from the receptionist as she could see I had two kids two different times. She asked for thier names as if she was about to register them to be seen only to then say you’re late with again no empathy.

She spoke for the actual dentist saying that she doesn’t want to be here late so you will have to reschedule again without EMPATHY and that was enough for me to no longer use this facility as my kids dentist. Moral of the story sometimes it’s just the little things, what you say what you do. They lost 2 customers today maybe they will gain 50 more but they lost 2 today!

I’ve been to this dentist for a little over a year and everything was going good until my son’s visit last October. He has braces so the orthodontist told us he needed a tooth removed to finish placing the brackets. We came here because this is his dentist. My son is 15 so he went back alone.

The assistant came out before and told me what they were doing to him and to go to the front desk for the price and then go to the back before they start. While I was waiting to talk about how much my insurance would cover they went ahead and started the procedure. Come to find out they used laughing gas and that wasn’t covered by my insurance so in total I had to pay almost $300! Had they talked to me about the cost before I would have said he didn’t need that. I a really upset that they also didn’t tell me that the office is no longer in network so I paid extra! Other than that mishap this dentist office seem to be okay.

My kids have to complaints but I still have to change to something in my dental network.

I’m deeply disappointed with our experience. My 3-year-old was seen and diagnosed with a cavity on a back tooth. I was told it needed to be extracted and replaced with a silver crown under liquid sedation — a very alarming recommendation for such a young child. When I mentioned I wanted a second opinion, it suddenly changed — the same dentist rechecked and said there was no cavity after all. I was left feeling misled, confused, and incredibly anxious for my child.

I can’t understand how an extraction was suggested for a baby tooth that would naturally fall out. I will not be returning and do not recommend this practice. Parents, please trust your gut and seek a second opinion if something doesn’t feel right.

I have been going to this dental office since 2021, and unfortunately, the quality of service has declined over time. While I’ve never been seen exactly at my scheduled appointment time, today was by far the worst experience. My daughter had a 3:00 PM appointment, and we arrived a few minutes early. She was not seen until 4:12 PM over an hour of waiting.

During that time, between 6 to 10 children who arrived after us were seen first. When I brought this up to the front desk I was told she would be next yet more children continued to be called in before her. Eventually, I was given the excuse that the others were just getting X-rays, which raises the question: what’s the point of appointment times if they’re not being honored? I also asked to speak with someone in charge, and was told they'd check the time stamps but had an important conference to attend making it clear that my concerns weren’t a priority. Waiting over an hour only to have my daughter’s entire visit last five minutes felt disrespectful and dismissive.

As a long-time patient, I’m extremely disappointed by how poorly this visit was handled and how little value was placed on our time.
