I honestly do not like their bedside manner on the children’s side. Adult aide maybe better I don’t know, in short they suck with kids in my opinion

Had 2 appointments here and both times they made my child cry. First appt we go back into a room, left my sons comfort blanket in the car, I said I'll be right back to him and the dentist. I quickly retrieve the blanket, enter the room and my son looks so distraught. She's standing over him with the xray mechanism trying to persuade him to try again. Mind you this is my sons first x-ray, ever. I'm disappointed wishing she would've waited for me but he's willing to try again despite. She puts it in his mouth and gags. . . now he's getting super upset. He starts to cry. I've personally done this x ray before and it's challenging even for an adult. We go to the next appt and this time the dentist we have is much friendlier, I explain that the biting down x-ray wasn't achievable. . she says "no problem! We have a different one in the back we can do. I'm thinking why wasn't this an option the first time? She takes him back to do the bite wing xray where it circles around him. No brainer that this was a much better option. My son is happy he didn't fail like last time. They sit him back and the main dentist comes in.

Cleans his teeth, and everything is smooth. He puts something all over his teeth and then tells him he can sit up. He starts talking to me and all of a sudden my son starts freaking out. Hes looking at me like help. The dentist acts like he doesn't even see my son and continues to talk to me. . . I'm concerned because why would my child be distraught over something in his mouth when they just did a cleaning. The dentist stops mid sentence and goes "is it tacky? Scrape your tongue off with this" while handing him what looks like a dry gauze and continues to talk. My son starts urgently scraping his tongue with it and at this point he's starting to cry. The dentist is still trying to carry on conversation like everything is ok but now my attention is completely on my kid who is in distress and I don't know why. I'm so confused. "What's in his mouth?" He goes "that's fluoride". My son is still crying and at this point I see the stuff caked up all over his lips like glue They both are just not caring that whatever they just did tanked my sons experience. The main dentists walks out. My son says mom I need a drink and the dentist assistant immediately goes "he cannot wash his mouth" and turns her back to us. I pop up and grab a cup from the sink right next to her and get my son some water to get the nasty junk out of his mouth and allow him to do whatever he needs to do in that moment. . At this point I'm upset they didn't ask me if It was even ok with the fluoride treatment especially since there is so much controversy in regards to it and I'm upset he didn't give my son a heads up.

We were both just completely thrown off guard. I don't understand why they didn't prepare him knowing how tacky it gets and I don't understand why the x-ray that's more appropriate for children in a pediatric dentist wasn't attempted the 1st appointment instead of gagging my child out and making him feel incapable. We went into the car and my son said "mom, every time I go here I end up crying. " I decided in that moment we wouldn't come back. They ended up referring us to a dentist out in Boone and we fell in love with that place. . . my son was smiling and laughing with the dentist not crying! They successfully got the mouth x ray that seemed impossible. The 40 minute drive to Boone is worth the better experience. Now months later they keep sending a bill in which is shows that insurance isn't covering any of the appointments my son went to there. Strange considering it covered all the visits, xrays, exams. . . everything from the dentist they referred me to. . . this is just adding on to the below par experience I've had with SF Denistry.

Excellent staff and friendly Dentist 🦷 who's caring, loving, and gentle with patients. I had no worries or concerns at my son's appointment, because I felt welcome along with being comfortable to be a part of the services provided within the Dentistry office.
