Went in for a checkup and cleaning, the staff was very communicative and pleasant. Minimal wait time, and the doctor was very informative and considerate during the procedure.

The dentist spilled glue all over my left lower premolars and molars, so that I couldn’t floss. I’ve driven there for an appointment to find out that the dentist wasn't there and I was charged for a visit for some other dentist to just look at my teeth. On my last visit there, the dentist worked on some cavities and after that I couldn't chew on my left side until it was redone by another doctor! The office only looked professional at reception but inside it was old and worn down.

The registration staff were nice. Finally when my current dental office requested dental xrays from this place - they lost many of the shots! Overall, I’m sad and disappointed.

I saw VMC Group dentists at the Brooklyn and Park Slope offices. My experience with VMC Dental was deeply troubling and I feel compelled to warn others. I initially visited for a root canal on an infected, fractured molar as recommended by my regular dentist. However, without my written consent, they performed an additional, unnecessary root canal on an upper tooth that had no issues. During the procedure, I experienced what I believe was medical shock - severe shivering, fever spike, and intense body pain. Their response was inadequate: they merely placed alcohol-soaked paper towels under my nose, hastily finished the procedure, and sent me home in an Uber. I could have had a medical emergency in that Uber. At home, my condition worsened significantly. I couldn't stop vomiting and my fever spiked dangerously high. When I returned a week later for permanent fillings, they refused to complete the treatment due to ongoing infection, significant gum and jaw swelling. They then charged me $300, which I paid without question at the time. Two weeks later, I returned again for the fillings, only to face aggressive upselling for a crown my regular dentist hadn't recommended. When I declined, they became argumentative.

Even more concerning, they claimed I had never paid the previous $300 and demanded an additional $152 for the fillings. This was despite my insurance benefits explanation clearly stating I only owed $82. 60 for one root canal and $63 for the other. They refused to provide any itemized statement when I questioned these charges. The staff, particularly one woman, was incredibly rude and condescending, treating me as if I were unintelligent for questioning their billing practices. Frustrated and upset, I left without receiving the permanent fillings, meaning my root canals remain unfinished. I've since filed a grievance with Delta Dental, my insurance provider, as they agree I should receive a refund. The entire experience has left me feeling taken advantage of and concerned for other patients. Both of their 5th Avenue offices, especially the one at 580 5th Avenue, appeared unsanitary. The conditions reminded me of substandard dental facilities, raising serious concerns about infection control - particularly worrying given that I was already dealing with an infection. In conclusion, based on the unauthorized procedures, poor handling of a medical emergency, questionable and aggressive billing practices, unsanitary conditions, and overall unprofessional treatment, I cannot in good conscience recommend VMC Dental. I hope my experience serves as a warning to others considering this practice. Always ensure you fully understand and agree to any dental procedures before they are performed, and don't hesitate to question charges that seem incorrect.

UPDATE: Regarding the grievance I filed with my insurance company: VMC falsified my records and sent a statement to my insurance company with a procedure I had never had. It was suspiciously for the amount that I had already overpaid. It also was never submitted on the claims to the insurance company, because I had never had this procedure. Only once I filed the grievance did they add this charge to my account. Therefore, I did not receive my small refund of $154. This company is GREEDY and are willing to falsify records illegally to keep every penny they overcharge you. They are dishonest and cannot be trusted. All they care about is money, not your health. SECOND UPDATE: I have noticed that several of the 5 star reviews on here have been written by employees. I recognize them by name. Like I said, this is a dishonest company.
