About
Dr. Ramsey went to high school in Richmond and then to Virginia Military Institute, majoring in Chemistry. While at VMI he developed his love of flying, earning his private pilot's license. After VMI, he went to Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. He was commissioned in the US Air Force and served four years while practicing near Oxford, England. He began his private practice in downtown Roanoke and then moved to his current location on Franklin Road in 1990. Dr. Ramsey has been on numerous boards including Mill Mountain Zoo, Kiwanis and his church's community youth program. He had a long and active association with his church's scouts, serving as cub pack master and scoutmaster. Now he enjoys racing sailplanes and teaching gliding in New Castle, Virginia. Besides flying, Dr. Ramsey spends time traveling, boating, reading, eating well and staying in reasonably good shape. To expand his knowledge of dentistry, Dr. Ramsey has enrolled and continues to enroll in hundreds of hours of advanced professional education, with a special emphasis on TMJ, cosmetic and restorative dentistry. The initials "FAGD" stand for "Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry." To achieve this honor a dentist has to take 500 hours of continuing education courses and then pass a comprehensive six hour written examination covering all phases of general dentistry.
