About
Born in Trinidad, Dr. Ramai earned his D.D.S. degree at the University of the West Indies. He went on to work at the university as a part-time lecturer and clinical instructor for four years while practicing dentistry full-time in a private practice. Continuing Education & Professional Memberships As a firm believer in continuing education, Dr. Ramai furthered his studies with a one-year postgraduate general practice residency at the University of Puerto Rico. He further attained an advanced certification in general dentistry with an emphasis on the surgical placement and restoration of implants with a two-year postgraduate residency at the University of Maryland. In both of his residencies mentioned above Dr. Ramai focused on mastering the skills of cosmetic dentistry. He received a Fellowship from the Academy of Dentistry in 2007 and in June of 2013 obtained the prestige of Master from the Academy of General Dentistry. He was recently awarded the distinctions of Fellow and Master from the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Ramai is also a certified CPR instructor from The American Red Cross. Dr. Ramai has earned many honors and awards over his career. Most recently, Dr. Ramai was awarded as one of America's Top Dentists for 2009 and again in 2011, as assessed by the Consumers Research Council of America. In addition, he was named with Honors in the Strathmore's Who's Who Professional Assessment Council for 2009. He is also a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Virginia Dental Association, the Northern Virginia Dental Society, the International Congress of Oral Implantology and the Implant Society of Northern Virginia. Dr. Ramai is fluent in Spanish. Most Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings, you will find him volunteering at the Northern Virginia Dental Clinic. In his free time, Dr. Ramai enjoys going to the gym, cooking and salsa dancing and was once a salsa instructor. He also participates in various outdoor activities such as scuba diving, volleyball, kayaking and hiking. He currently lives in Alexandria.
