Detailed Introduction

Aspen Dental is a prominent American dental support organization (DSO) founded in 1998 with headquarters in Chicago, Illinois. It supports a vast network of over 1,100 independently owned and operated dental practices across the United States. While the individual clinics are owned by licensed dentists who maintain clinical autonomy, Aspen Dental Management, Inc. (ADMI) provides comprehensive support services, including marketing, operations, training, and financial management. This model allows dentists to focus primarily on patient care, while ADMI handles the business aspects of the practice. Aspen Dental's mission is to break down barriers to dental care, making it more accessible and affordable for a broad range of patients, especially those who may not have a regular dental provider or face financial constraints. They achieve this through various initiatives, including accepting most major dental insurance providers, offering flexible financing options through third-party lenders (with a high approval rate), and providing the "Aspen Dental Savings Plan" as an alternative to traditional insurance. They also have new patient offers and often include free new-patient exams and X-rays for those without dental insurance. The range of services offered at Aspen Dental locations is extensive, covering general dentistry, emergency dental care, and specialized treatments. These services include: General Dentistry: Routine check-ups, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, crowns, bridges, and teeth whitening. Emergency Dental Care: Treatment for severe toothaches, broken or chipped teeth, loosened or knocked-out teeth, and bleeding or swollen gums. Specialty Services: Oral surgery (including extractions, wisdom teeth removal, and Dental Implants), endodontics (Root Canal therapy), and orthodontics (Motto® Clear Aligners). Dentures: A wide selection of full and partial dentures, with an on-site denture lab at all locations for quick repairs and relines, along with a money-back guarantee. Aspen Dental is also actively involved in community initiatives, such as the "Healthy Mouth Movement," which provides free dental care to veterans and underserved populations. Their commitment to growth and empowering dentists is evident through their "Practice Ownership Program," which offers a structured path for clinicians to become practice owners with the backing of the organization's support system.

I went to Aspen Dental because of the reviews and the claim to affordability. The receptionists and technician that saw me were friendly and communicated well. However when It came time to see the dentist, the communication was lacking. Felt like a cold interaction with them, did not address my problem directly, wrote up a chart and sent it off to billing to write up an estimate. It is likely just the way that they handle things there however when they mentioned the price of the work they wanted to perform being thousands above what I was expecting it just created a hard stop.

And the woman handling the pricing was not able to help me with my questions regarding the proposed work. I'm sure that they are excellent dentists, but the 2 most important things to me (aside from the dental work itself) were lacking. Communication and affordability. I will likely be taking my business elsewhere.

My experience was disappointing. Everybody there is very professional and very nice, but I was misled. I called. Talk to a receptionist asked her if I could get an appointment to come in to have my teeth cleaned. She told me yes I asked her how much it would cost she said $98. I took the appointment for two days later. I went in, Filled out some paperwork, told the receptionist at the desk that I was only there for a cleaning probably wouldn’t be coming back. It had been six months since my last cleaning when I was still living in Florida and it was time for another cleaning. I like to be on top of keeping my teeth clean. I spent a lot of money fixing my teeth the last few years. It’s important To me to keep the hygiene regiment up. Then they called me in. I was meant by a technician who took x-rays and then took me to another room for another kind of x-ray. Another room for another set. I also mentioned to her that I really only want a cleaning.

I was told by her that you had to have the x-rays first before they did any work on me and I said all right. . Then I saw the dentist. Again, very nice very professional. I said to her all I want is a cleaning today and she didn’t say anything to me that would lead me to believe that I couldn’t get that cleaning. She looked at my x-rays told me they looked really good. She was going to send the Hygienist in. I believed he was coming in to clean my teeth. . He took a look at my mouth poked around a bit decided that I needed a deep cleaning. I said that seems unlikely I just had a Clean bill of Health six months ago. . He said OK well we can do specific deep cleaning. It won’t be the whole thing. I said Ok how much is that gonna cost? He said well I’ll send one of the girls in to talk to you.

. She came in and told me it was gonna be $745 cash right then and there. My body involuntarily jumped out of the chair and I said I just want my teeth cleaned. How can that cost so much money? Well, you have to have a deep cleaning and if we do a regular cleaning, it won’t do you any good. I said I don’t have insurance and I don’t have $745. Well, we have discount programs. So I went to a desk and I looked at the discount program that didn’t cover the deep cleaning at all. So I said there’s nothing more to talk about the only thing I can do is to Go talk to a rep at Geisinger and see if they’ll reimburse me for this but I still don’t have $745 to give you so I think I need to leave now. I got up and left. . Then I went to see a friend who happens to be a dentist. I told her the story and she told me flat out I was getting scammed. So there you have it. That’s all I have to say about Aspen Dental.

I had a great experience here today. I HATE the dentist, but the entire staff was very friendly, and made me feel very calm. Corey went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable, and relaxed with my cleaning. Corey was wonderful, but the front office staff is the rudest people I have ever had the displeasure of having to deal with, especially Asia. I had an appointment with the endodontist and they rescheduled my first appointment, then I needed to reschedule the appointment they made for me.

I later received a voice mail from Asia telling me they need to cancel my appointments and will not reschedule me due to rescheduling my appointment twice. When I called to explain that I didn’t reschedule my first appointment, she pretty much ignored what I said and the fact I called the day before the appointment to reschedule Asia answered my call and was very rude. Telling me that I wasted their time. Very poor customer service skills. I work in healthcare and I would never treat a patient the way she talked to me.

This place is over priced and the service is terrible. The only pleasant experience was with Corey. I will never give this place my business again. Don’t make the mistake of going here.

I’m not one to leave bad reviews but this place needs it. If I could leave a no star I would. Three months it took them to figure out my insurance and Asia was very unprofessional. Instead I went somewhere else and paid cash for my Root Canal so I knew it’d be done right. I wouldn’t advise or recommend this company to anyone.
