Detailed Introduction

Children's Special Care Dentistry is a dental clinic located at 2301 Meadow Dr, Louisville, KY 40218, dedicated to providing comprehensive oral health services for children. The clinic's name itself highlights its focus on patients who may require additional attention and specialized care, including those with physical, developmental, mental, sensory, behavioral, cognitive, or emotional impairments. The practice aims to make dental visits a positive and engaging experience for young patients, which is crucial for fostering good oral hygiene habits from an early age. They understand that going to the dentist can be challenging for children, especially those with unique needs, and their team is specifically trained to handle diverse behaviors and developmental stages with patience and understanding. While the provided information does not detail a specific mission statement for this exact clinic, similar pediatric dental practices often share the goal of delivering high-quality, compassionate, and accessible dental care in a child-friendly environment. Services typically offered by such clinics include preventive care (exams, cleanings, fluoride treatments, sealants), restorative dentistry (fillings, crowns), and specialized treatments tailored to children with complex medical conditions or anxieties. Many pediatric dental clinics also provide sedation options like nitrous oxide (laughing gas), oral sedation, or even general anesthesia when necessary to ensure the child's comfort and safety during procedures. The emphasis on "special care" implies that the clinic is well-equipped and staffed to accommodate patients who might require wheelchair access, extended appointment times, or specific behavior management techniques. They likely work closely with parents and caregivers to develop individualized treatment plans that address each child's unique needs, ensuring a supportive and respectful environment for all.

Is it possible to give negative stars!!? Last week I took my daughter for a check up. We were given a 3:30 appointment on a Friday. I felt rushed during the whole process. The X- ray machine broke so they could not even say if she had issues that were not showing. One of here teeth had a discoloration on it. It was evident to me this was at least a surface cavity.

Dr. Mitchell dismissed it, not really looking at the area. He preferred to wait on X-rays to confirm a cavity. I was thinking you are a dentist but can not tell if a discolored tooth is a probable cavity on examination?. ?!# It nagged at me and when I called today they said the X-ray said she did not have a cavity. I just stepped out of another highly regarded pediatric dentist office.

They confirm it is indeed a cavity. They also found several teeth Dr. Mitchell's staff did not properly clean or place sealant on. I would think twice before taking your child here. The dentists are not educated enough to diagnose, treat, or care for patients correctly. Stay away!!!!

Love it here!! Very good with the kids have crayons and coloring pages for the kids in the waiting area. They make the kids feel happy and safe which helps make future dentist visits a lot easier for us.

I like this place because I have been bringing my kids here since they were little. Now my oldest one is 21, I really used to love Dr. Mitchell because of his attention to detail and how he would even come out to the waiting area and explain everything with a very friendly attitude, but after not seen him for many years he got to see my 7 year old baby and it was just a terrible experience not only for her but for me as well.

At one point he was trying to hold my daughter down to check her teeth and instead of grabbing her hand he grabbed my with so much force that it just left me speechless. It has been about a year since this happened and I decided to write this review bacause I still can't forget that day and I want parent to think before you send your child on their own to the back.
