Detailed Introduction

Commonwealth Endodontics is a well-established dental clinic specializing in endodontics, the branch of dentistry concerned with the study and treatment of the dental pulp and tissues surrounding the roots of a tooth. With over 25 years of experience, they are dedicated to saving natural teeth and providing high-quality care across their eight convenient locations in Central Virginia, including Richmond and Charlottesville. The clinic prides itself on its team of highly skilled and experienced endodontists, who collectively possess over 192 years in dentistry and 119 years as specialists in endodontics. Many of their doctors are board-certified or board-eligible, ensuring top-tier expertise. They utilize state-of-the-art technology, including advanced EdgePro LASER for minimally invasive treatments and CBCT imaging for precise diagnosis, leading to better outcomes and enhanced patient comfort. Commonwealth Endodontics offers a comprehensive range of services, including: Root Canal Therapy: The primary procedure, focused on removing infected or damaged pulp, cleaning and disinfecting the tooth's interior, and sealing it to prevent future infections. They emphasize that modern techniques and anesthesia make the procedure effective and virtually painless. Endodontic Retreatment: Addressing cases where a previously treated tooth fails to heal or develops new problems. Endodontic Microsurgery (Apicoectomy): Procedures like root-end resection to treat persistent inflammation or infection in the bony area around the end of a tooth after root canal therapy. Cracked Teeth Care: Diagnosing and treating teeth with cracks that extend to the pulp. Sedation Endodontics: Offering various sedation options (e.g., nitrous oxide, oral anxiolysis) to help anxious or fearful patients relax during procedures, as well as those with a strong gag reflex or claustrophobia. Traumatic Dental Injuries: Providing prompt care for urgent situations like dental trauma. Internal Bleaching: A procedure to lighten discolored teeth from the inside. The clinic prioritizes patient comfort and a positive experience, offering same-day emergency appointments and striving for on-time scheduling. Their patient-centered approach is reflected in their impressive collection of over 1,500 five-star online reviews. They also accept most major insurance plans and offer in-house discount plans for uninsured patients.

Dr. Timothy Finkler retreated a cracked molar root canal from over a decade ago. Was nervous/concerned since original procedure resulted in a weekend with the worst pain I've ever experienced, and no way to even contact that doctor - they went on a weekend retreat.

Fast forward to Dr. Finkler - no pain after anesthetic wore off, Tylenol and Advil only needed for one day after (two times) - and was even given a cell phone number to contact in case any pain did start!!! Have never had any doctor make themselves this available to a patient before! God bless him for the amazing treatment that resulted in relieving pain and not causing any additional pain typical with this kind of treatment. There was not even any discomfort after - Thank you!

The office staff is very nice but I always feel like the practice is more concerned with your payment than your health and well being. On this visit, I was having pain in a tooth which had previously been treated and was charged a significant fee to be advised to have the tooth extracted-a service that this practice does not provide.

The entire office was an absolute pleasure to be served by. From Dr. Ather & Kayla, who took great care of my issue, to each of the front desk staff I interacted with, I felt my pain and treatment plan was of the utmost concern.

I have had (unfortunately) quite a bit of experience with root canals and this was by far the best experience. So thankful I found this practice through their stellar Google reviews.

Everyone was so nice. From start to finish. Dr Finkler was terrific. Very gentle, explained everything, and had a sense of humor. He even called later in the day to see how I was doing. Highly recommend.
