Detailed Introduction

Seaside Oral surgery is a dedicated oral and maxillofacial surgery practice serving Murrells Inlet, SC, and the surrounding areas, including Myrtle Beach and Conway. The clinic specializes in a broad spectrum of surgical procedures related to the mouth, teeth, and facial regions. Their team comprises board-certified oral surgeons who have undergone extensive hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training beyond dental school. Key services offered by Seaside Oral Surgery include: dental implants: They perform the surgical placement of dental implants to replace missing teeth, including bone grafting procedures to ensure adequate jawbone density for implant success. wisdom teeth removal: This is a common procedure performed to extract impacted or problematic wisdom teeth, preventing potential pain, infection, and damage to adjacent teeth. Corrective jaw surgery (Orthognathic Surgery): For patients with misaligned jaws or bite problems that cannot be corrected by orthodontics alone, Seaside Oral Surgery offers orthognathic surgery to reposition the jaws for improved function, aesthetics, and overall oral health. Bone Grafting: Various bone grafting techniques are utilized to restore lost jawbone volume and density, often as a prerequisite for dental implant placement or to address bone loss due to periodontal disease. Exposure of Impacted Teeth: They perform surgical exposure of impacted teeth to aid orthodontic treatment in guiding these teeth into their proper positions. Facial Injuries and Pathology: The surgeons are also equipped to diagnose and treat facial pain, facial injuries (including fractures), and various oral and maxillofacial pathologies such as cysts and tumors. Seaside Oral Surgery prides itself on its patient-centric approach, aiming to provide a comfortable and stress-free experience. They offer various anesthesia options, including local anesthesia, nitrous oxide, intravenous (IV) sedation, and outpatient general anesthesia, all administered in their state-of-the-art surgery center with continuous patient monitoring. The practice emphasizes a commitment to excellence, with a knowledgeable and empathetic team dedicated to high standards of patient care. They also collaborate with general dentists and other specialists to ensure comprehensive and coordinated treatment plans.

I was absolutely happy with the oral surgeon and clinical staff, but I had (4) extractions in January and the office has had significant challenges with the claims processing via my dental insurance. I have now received assistance from staff, and corresponded directly with Dr. Lawhon which I have greatly appreciated.

The office has a new policy for patients submit claims directly to insurance. This will likely alleviate issues moving forward with several insurance companies throughout multiple states and insurance will respond and remit payment directly to the patients.

Had a appointment back in June for a lump in my mouth that my dentist found. Was told by the doctor here he wanted it to be sent off to have a biopsy. Cost me $1500 out of pocket since my insurance doesn't cover this type of procedure. 2 months later I'm still getting bills from the hospital in Charleston where the lump was sent off to. I thought the $1500 was supposed to include everything. Not very up front with the pricing.

Also had to wait 2 hours in the waiting room for my consultation appointment & another hour for my surgery appointment even though I was called each time to come in earlier. Very unprofessional. Won't be back. Should've read the reviews before coming here instead of going where my dentist referred me. Lesson learned.

Communication was the only negative otherwise all of the staff were very friendly, the nurses were amazing, and the orthodontist was phenomenal. They provided a clear instruction packet for post-surgery. I would recommend them!
