Dr. Mutzig and her assistant Anna were very kind, and I wish I could give a positive review of this clinic. However, I think it is important to inform others of administrative billing issues with this office. I received a gum graft from Dr. Mutzig several months ago, and when meeting with the billing administrator for the procedure, the cost quote I was given turned out to have switched the patient estimated cost and the amount insurance would cover, leading to a balance bill of an additional $650 beyond the initial quote. This may have been a mistake rather than intentional deception, however the office refused to offer a payment plan or discount despite this error once I received the additional bill. I even had to ask them multiple times for an actual itemized bill--all I kept getting was an email demanding payment! Furthermore, the gum graft ultimately failed.

I don't fault her too much for this, as I realize there are a lot of variables that can affect the success of these procedures. That being said, the assistant did take out the stitches after only a few weeks, which seems to be earlier than medically advisable. Dr. Mutzig did not offer to do anything to try and fix the graft after it receded again, and when I asked her why it failed, she went back and forth between suggesting it was my fault (for not getting Invisalign prior to the graft, or for "babying" the graft too much during the healing process) and saying that this is a common outcome that many patients become disappointed with. Regardless, the recession is now basically back to what it was prior to the surgery; ultimately I ended up paying 3x as much as expected for a procedure that will need to be re-performed. Again, Dr. Mutzig and her assistant seem like very nice people in general, and I admit they did a great job minimizing pain during the procedure.

I have gone back and forth about whether I should even post this review because I hate to seem rude. But I do not want others to go through similar issues. Therefore I'd recommend prospective patients research their options for periodontists in the area, particularly if you are only going here because you were referred from your primary dentist (as I was). If you do decide to get treatment here, make sure you double check all procedures with your insurance prior to signing up for any care, as they will not stand by their cost estimates.

I am even more pleased with Dr. Mutzig, surgery asst. Alina, and their staff than I was when I came to them five years ago. Very friendly, capable, relaxed and confident atmosphere there. Also, they are superlative in explaining all the steps and procedures, and thoroughly answering any questions.

I absolutely love this dentistry!! Dr.Katz is a very gentle, caring, highly skilled dentist! All of his staff are wonderful as well. I came to him with a mouthful of issues. I needed 4 extractions, 3 or 4 root canals, and help for a tooth that broke out of my mouth( he got it back in)! He helped me every step of the way. He is absolutely AWESOME and I can't say enough to recommend him to others!
